#3 NFT BOOTH - C.O.I.N. - The Only NFT Framework You Need To Know
Read this before you make an NFT purchase
Without a doubt, the world of NFTs is new and rapidly evolving, and can be very confusing; however, I personally believe this movement has the incredible potential to change the world. This Substack is my exploration of NFTs — follow me on this journey as I explore and share some of the biggest drops, fascinating verticals, historic moments, and everything else beyond.
Note: This is not financial advice and all views are my own. I am not affiliated with any brands and am not sponsored for any mentions. There are no set ways that would lead a project to succeed over the others, but these are opinions based on my own journey. The NFTs mentioned that I personally own in this article are Smilesss (x3), Lostboy (x2), Gutter Juice (x1), and Flowtys (x1).
4 Ways To Evaluate An NFT Project
Here, I discuss the “COIN method” — a framework I developed that relies on four key factors that should be considered when making NFT purchases aimed at supporting creators with a unique vision.
C: Community Engagement
One of the things we always hear from NFT projects and collectors is the word “community.” This is probably the strongest indicator of success because NFTs provide us with more value beyond just increasing floor prices; an engaged community shows us that simple fact. An active community involves IRL event turnouts, twitter and discord participation, and members respecting each other from a common bond. A strong story to your project can be a great way to build organic connections with members. For example, the GutterCatGang is set in the year 2050 when humans have abandoned a shattered society that is now run by species from the gutter: cats, rats, pigeons, dogs, and their clones. As a huge fan of the art, the gutter species connected with me on a personal underdog level where the species fight for their existence: no huge influencer backing, a team that keeps pushing, and collectors for the long run.
Upon recently joining the GutterCatGang, I was welcomed with an overwhelmingly positive response alongside new instant followers that made me feel even more excited to be along this new journey.
O: Organic Building
In crypto and NFTs, a day feels like a week because there is change happening at lightning speed. In this storm of choice, let’s not forget what causes us to love the brands or products we use every day in the world: repeatable and consistent value. There are many NFT projects out there that are doing the same, whether it’s new gameFi dynamics, token governance, or airdrops.
One of my favorite examples of a project that keeps on relentlessly building is Lostboy. In a year, they have continued to add value by dropping new merch, adding a pop-up store in Decentraland where Lostboy’s can interact with each other with their Lostboy wearables, collaborating with mental health America, producing a music label, and through their upcoming $LOST token launch. I am proud to be included in the #LOSTBOYUNIVERSE with my #8742 below.
I: Innovation
So many projects are providing incredible utility with their NFTs acting as a stepping stone into an entire universe; this ranges from mutating your bored ape to engaging in a virtual interactive journey on the creature world. Innovation is important for an NFT project to succeed because providing utility beyond the fences of trading platforms increases longevity.
One of the most exciting projects in this space that is constantly innovating is Flowtys. The longer you hold your Flowty, the older they become. In addition, each holder has access to Flowtys+, an entire Netflix-like streaming service that allows you to watch cartoons and movie classics from the early 1900s and beyond.
Below is Layna, my Flowty #1775 that is now 6 months old.
N: Niche Branding
Everyone looks at art with a different lens and every artist showcases their work with their own view of the world. That is why every art or NFT in itself is unique. My point here is to focus on how different NFTs can brand themselves to a niche that can connect with people in various ways to create a movement across various verticals, such as streetwear, sports, and gaming, to name a few.
One of my favorite projects that showcases a blend of fashion and detail is the Smilesss collection of 8888 3D characters that are designed by Waheed Zai. Each character focuses on a variety of traits influenced by sick footwear, hip-hop vibes, and unique fashion. Below is my fashion guru #2132 ::).
Ultimately each NFT speaks to everyone at a different personal level, and there is no true way to predict success. The COIN method simply allows us to look at more factors before making a purchase decision to support creators that have a unique vision.
